NTI work: Day 3 and Day 4

Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a great holiday break! And if you're reading this after the holidays are over, I hope you're having a great snow day!

If you're reading this post, you're probably looking for the NTI work for snow day 3 and snow day 4. If you're looking for day 1 and day 2, remember: I gave you those in class! Not only that, I gave you the option to take home day 3 and day 4 on paper, too.

SNOW DAY ASSIGNMENT: DAY 3
Read the Extended Response Question and Student Response. Rank each response on a 1-4 scale, 4 being exemplary, 1 being needs improvement. Explain your ranking with textual evidence, and mathematical support.

You can write your answer on regular notebook paper.

SNOW DAY ASSIGNMENT: DAY 4
Read the Extended Response Question and Student Response. Rank each response on a 1-4 scale, 4 being exemplary, 1 being needs improvement. Explain your ranking with textual evidence, and mathematical support.

You can write your answer on regular notebook paper.

Unit 4 (functions) Pre-Test

So we've already started a new unit. BUT before we get any deeper into it, I'd like to know what you're already bringing to the table. Click the link below to take the Unit 4 Pre-test.

Wednesday, 10-28-15: In further pursuit of X, master criminal...

When it comes to finding X in word problems, we've got some skill. After all, we wrote equations for word problems in target 2.1, in the last unit! But now we're writing equations from word problems, and that can get a little tricky.

In class, we compiled a list of words we might see that might indicate which inequality symbol we're supposed to use.

With these words, try to compose inequality statements based on these sentences.

- T is non-negative.
- X is positive.
- K is no more than 3.
- R is at least 2.
- S is at most 4.
- V is no less than 7.

Were those pretty easy for you? Try these; they're a little harder!

- A bus can seat at most 48 students.
- It's not safe to use a light bulb of more than 60 watts for this fixture.
- At least 350 students attended the band concert on Friday.
- There have been more than 75 sightings of bigfoot this year.

Now it's time for the REAL word problems. Try to write an equation from the problems below, and then solve it. Remember to ACTUALLY WRITE AN EQUATION instead of simply coming up with an answer!

Bonus Video #6: Volume of a Cone

Well, you've made it! F you're reading this, then you've already competed the first five videos. You already know what to do, so why're you wasting your time reading directions?

Here's video number one:

And hers video number two:

Good luck! And remember, you can still ask for help, even though it's a bonus problem.

Bonus video #5: Area of a circle

Circles: they're everywhere! And being able to find the area of them is really, really useful.

You know the drill. Watch this video first:

Once that's done, watch the next video for your instructions on Bonus Problem #5. Put this one on the back of your sheet:

Video #4: Formula for Mass

So you'll be able to "solve for a particular variable in an equation that contains multiple variables", we're using a science formula for video #4: namely, the formula for mass. First, watch the video below:

Then, watch this next video for directions on problem #4:

Good luck, and remember to ask if you need any help!

Video #3: Area of a Trapezoid

The skill you're going to learn in target 2.5 goes like this: "I can solve for a particular variable in an equation that has more than one variable." Since you're working on Problem #3, you'll need to watch the video below first:

Once that's finished, you'll find your problem using the Area of a Trapezoid in the video below:

Good luck on Problem #3! And remember to ask for help if you need it!

Video #2: Volume of a Rectangular Prism

In target 2.5, you're going to be able to "solve for a particular variable in an equation with more than one variable". For problem number two, first watch the video below:

Once that's finished, watch the video below for direction on Problem #2!

Good luck! Remember to write this problem in the "Problem 2" box on your sheet. And be sure to ask questions if you need help!

Video #1: Area of a Triangle

The skill you're going to learn in target 2.5 is "I can solve for a particular variable in equations with more than one variable". For problem #1, first watch the video below:

Once that's finished, watch the video below for directions on Problem #1! Good luck, and remember to ask if you need any help!

Welcome to my new website!

So, I've decided to start using Blogger to keep everyone informed on what's going on in my class, because Weebly just wasn't cutting it. And by "Just wasn't cutting it", I mean I couldn't update posts from my iPad.
